Here are tips you must know to rent a house in Ho Chi Minh city

Renting a house in Vietnam is not too hard, but renting a house in Ho Chi Minh City is like leaping into a jungle. The options seem almost endless. Therefore, to rent a house to call home here, expats should know exactly what you’re looking for and how to find it.

Before making any decision about the house you rent in Ho Chi Minh city, you should answer these questions:

1. Do you want an apartment, a house or a villa?

Each option of house is suitable for each type of expat

Generally, most expats in Saigon prefer the apartments over houses. But that’s when you stay alone or with just your partner. If all of your family are going to settle life in Vietnam, a private house is still the best. There are also rooms for rent, fully furnished or unfurnished for one person.

2. Which district you want to live in?

Saigon has 24 districts. District 1 is the centre with a crazy fun busy life and never sleep nights. District 2 is for expats where the atmosphere is much fresher and quiet with many international schools, facilities, supermarkets for foreigners. If you have kid, this should be the place to go. Another option is District 7 – the area of both wealthy Vietnamese and expats. There are many beautiful modern villas here that everyone wants to live in. Anyway, you should live in any district that is the nearest to your work place because the traffic in Ho Chi Minh is not too good. So where is most convenient for you to live? Where do you work? How do you get to work? And where is the best place to live to get to work without traffic jam?

3. What do you need in a house?

Every kind of house in Saigon is always available for rent

For some people, having a house with neccesary facilities like TV, fridge, bathtub, air conditioner, washing machine is enough. But others may want swimming pool, a small lovely garden or a garage. It’s all up to you.

Not just your house, you should know your neighborhood too. Is it near a hospital or your children’s school? Is  there a supermarket or grocery nearby? Can you jog at a park or is there a gym nearby? Do you want to be next to a noisy karaoke bar?

4. How big is your budget?

Why this question the last? People normally think about their budget first, but it’s actually better to put it last. You can mold a budget to a dream, but if you mold a dream to a budget you’re bound to be dissatisfied! Write down a list of things you need in a home then figure out if you can affort them all or not. You may cut some non-essential features out then search for the best choice.

This is indeed the most important thing, doesn’t matter you want to rent a house in Vietnam or anywhere in the world. Ho Chi Minh is the biggest city of Vietnam, so the rental prices are quite expensive but the exact number still depends on the district you choose. At the moment, an average furnished 1-2 bedroom apartment is about 200 to 800USD per mont (ideal for singles or couples) and for families, a 3-bedrom unit ranges up to 1,200USD in Phu My Hung  or any place near district 1. Meanwhile, a house for rent in Ho Chi Minh city starts at 500USD. And anyone who wants a villa may not care much about the price. Take to mind that this is only our estimated price.

We hope these 4 tips can help you in any way. If you have any questions or want to seek more information about renting a house in Vietnam or renting a house in Ho Chi Minh city, Mogi can always helps you. You can start by leaving a comment below.
